From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
